Conservation Projects

The Abo Shamani vision is to restore the Bushmansriver Valley to its original indigenous state and to harmonise the crucial balance between man and nature. The "light footprint" approach to conservation is applied in the various projects aimed at eradicating alien plants and preserving the delicate ecosystems in the different biomes. To ensure the success of these projects, the Ranch staff consults with representatives from surrounding Universities on an on going basis. This ensures that the delicate balance between flora and fauna is restored and then maintained. A critical element of the Abo Shamani Wildlife Ranch’s conservation effort is its planned environmental education project. Conservation without community support is meaningless and not effective. Through these planned local community projects, the Ranch aims to encourage future generations to develop an increased awareness and love for the land, animals and the conservation of both.
